HISTORICAL CITY TOUR

Your tour starts with a visit to the city Market where you will experience the hustle and bustle of morning activities. See and smell the tropical fruits piled high and the freshly ground spices neatly packed for sale. Proceed to the Anglican Church built in 1874 by Bishop Steer on the site of the Great Slave Market, once the hub of the slave trade for the whole of East Africa. At its peak, up to 60,000 slaves passed through the market each year. You will also visit the underground chambers where they used to hold the slaves before taken to the market. You will then drive to the House of Wonders ( National Museum) built as a ceremonial Palace and which, contains relics of the Sultans and early explorers such as Dr. David Livingstone. From the Old Fort you will be taken on a walk through narrow streets of Stone Town, passing the Roman Catholic Church and some extraordinary Zanzibar doors and glimpsing typical Zanzibar life.

Your tour will end with the visit of the Sultan’s Palace Museum and the recently renovated and very ornate Ithnasheri Dispensary, a grand four-story building near the seafront originally built as a private residence, but was used as a dispensary during the colonial times.

Thereafter, you will board your coaches and return back to the pier.

SPICE TOUR

Pass by the House of Dr. David Livingstone, where he stayed while planning his explorations to the interior. Visit the ruins of Maruhubi Palace built as a harem and later destroyed by fire. Proceed to the countryside of Zanzibar where you will find a profusion of lush tropical vegetation that and see and smell numerous spices and seasonal fruits as well as plants used for medicinal purposes. You will also visit the Persian baths at Kidichi, built by the first Sultan for his Persian wife.

  • 3 hours morning or afternoon
  • To combine with City Tour, Nungwi Village, Mangapwani or a boat trip

FULL DAY DHOW ADVENTURE (SAFARI BLUE)

Depart from the fishing village of Fumba in a traditional Dhow for a full day

swimming, snorkeling and searching for dolphins in the waters off the South of

Zanzibar . There are numerous, unspoiled coral gardens in this area. A delicious

seafood lunch, prepared in traditional Zanzibari style, will be served on one of the sandbanks. Shade and picnic tables are provided. After lunch the dolphin search continues - and is often successful.
